Applications now open for KTN's FoodTech Investment Showcase 2019

Posted on 20/08/2019

KTN's FoodTech Investment Showcase, supported by MBM Commercial, will take place on 5th December in Edinburgh.

KTN is delighted to announce the call for companies to participate in our FoodTech investment training and showcase event. Applications close at 12:00 on 20th September 2019.

There is an ongoing need for private investment in FoodTech to further realise the sustained public investments and technical excellence within the UK. We’ve recognised this need and a priority over the last 2 years has been to support and build the FoodTech investment community. These objectives are mirrored by MBM Commercial and we are delighted to have their support to deliver the 2019 programme.

About the FoodTech Showcase

The showcase event will enable up to 14 companies to present their investment opportunity to an audience of investors dedicated to targeting FoodTech companies from the UK. Watch a short video on the 2018 programme below:

Call for applications from companies

KTN is looking for innovative FoodTech companies to participate in the training programme ahead of potential selection to present at the showcase event. Over 70% of the companies who provided feedback on last year’s programme indicated that it significantly raised their profile and investor readiness.

For the purposes of this event we are defining FoodTech as;
FoodTech is how we use new technology or processes to create an efficient, sustainable ecosystem for producing, transporting, preparing and cooking food.

Following a panel review of applications, companies will be invited and encouraged to participate in the complimentary and voluntary Pitch Training Programme.

  • 9th October: pitch training to be hosted by the KTN Access to Funding and Finance Team.
  • Following the invitation to participate in the programme, each company will be assigned a KTN Agri-Food Mentor, to help prepare their business plan and improve their pitch.
  • 22nd October: pitch critique with video feedback.

On 7th November, all participants must present their final pitch presentation to the selection panel (comprised of KTN, Innovate UK, MBM Commercial) to be eligible to be selected as one of the 14 companies to present at the Showcase on the 5th December.

All training will take place at the KTN Edinburgh office unless otherwise stated.
