Developing new UK-Canada agri-food partnerships

Posted on: 24/05/2017

New international R&D partnerships and business opportunities between Canada and the UK could be of great benefit to the agri-food sector.

Agriculture plays a significant role in both the UK and Canada’s economies. Canada is the world’s fifth largest exporter, and it is estimated that 1 in 8 jobs in Canada are within the agri-food industry.

An online workshop is being held on Monday 12th June 2017 to look at how we could develop new R&D partnerships and business opportunities. They are inviting specialists and experts in the field of agri-food from Canada and the UK to contribute to this conversation, as we look to build and develop partnerships and relationships between the UK and Canada.

In particular, they will be looking at:

  • Establishing bi-lateral partnerships between the UK and Canadian agri-food sector to enhance collaboration opportunities for mutual benefit
  • Developing priority themes for industry-led research that will address challenges facing the sector towards 2030
  • Developing a roadmap that details key actions to meet those challenges, with recommendations for collaborative research, timelines and funding requirements

You can find out more and register for this online meeting here.

Please contact a member of KTN’s Agri-Food Team if you would like to discuss how KTN can help you find new collaborative partners for an agri-food project, both within the UK and further afield.
