Funding to Support Secondments with Applications in the Biomedical Sciences

Posted on: 26/05/2020

Watch back the recording of our webinar on funding to support secondments in the biomedical sciences industry.

The new Innovation Scholars Secondment programme from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) provides funding to support the secondment of staff across biomedical firms, academic institutions and the wider public, private and charitable sectors. The secondee must work on an activity that builds towards solving challenges within their host organisation. The scheme provides opportunities to develop careers and bring new skills or insights to your organisation.

The scheme is not restricted to coronavirus and Covid-19 related developments, but additional flexibility has been developed to support companies, universities and NHS groups working to address this challenge. UKRI will provide successful applicants with up to £300,000 for 36 months. Secondments will typically start between 3 September 2020 and 3 March 2021, with a fast-track for projects related to Covid-19.

Applications for this call are welcome from any discipline but either the seconding or host organisation must be a business within the biomedical sciences sector (such as pharmaceutical, biotech, devices, biomedical engineering or diagnostics).

KTN held a briefing webinar on 2nd June, which you can catch up on watching below:

Attendees learned about what UKRI is looking for in a successful application and the flexibility for applicants either affected by, or working on, coronavirus and Covid-19. Programme Director Matthew Lodge discussed how the scheme can benefit you and your employees.

Key Information:

Closing Date for applications: 1st July 2020 (Noon)
