KTN’s Head of Transport, Dr Michelle Carter, will be speaking about Sustainable Aviation Fuel

The Royal Aeronautical Society’s Greener by Design Conference 2019 will focus on aviation and the net-zero emissions challenge.

Climate Change is the aviation industry’s biggest environmental challenge. The industry can already boast the first global, sector-wide, market-based climate measurement in CORSIA and is also committed to a net 50% reduction in emissions by 2050.

However, there is growing evidence of climate warming and the latest IPCC report urges the world to aim for a tighter limit on warming and that to do so requires a reduction to “Net-Zero Emissions” by the middle of this century.

This year’s annual Greener by Design conference will debate this crucial strategic issue with senior speakers from within and outside the industry. Key note speakers are Rt Hon. Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Transport and Lord Adair Turner, Chairman, Energy Transitions Commission.

KTN’s Head of Transport, Michelle Carter, will be speaking at the event alongside the UK Stakeholder Manager – Environmental Affairs from Airbus, around building the UK’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel supply chain. ¬†Michelle was the project lead on KTN’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel Special Interest Group, an initiative¬†to help accelerate the domestic production of sustainable fuel through strategic business solutions.
