Integrated Delivery Platform15 competition due to open

The Integrated Delivery Platform 15 (IDP15) competition will open in September 2018.

 

This marks the latest competition in the IDP series, building on the success of previous IDP funding rounds and highlighting the government’s commitment to the UK automotive sector.

Supporting IDP15 will be a multimillion pound investment by The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV).  UK business can apply for a share of the available funding to develop zero emission vehicle technologies.

KTN is hosting briefing events particularly aimed at the complimentary technology industries behind ultra-low/zero emission vehicles providing an opportunity for them to learn more about the IDP15 funding opportunity.  The events are in London on 20 September, Cardiff on 25 September and Sunderland on 26 September.  There is also a webcast for those unable to make the briefing events.

This year power electronics, machines and drives will be a strategic focus and organisations in this space are encouraged to attend the event.  Other zero emission technologies traditionally supported under IDP will again be in scope.  As the delivery partner, Innovate UK will manage all new and innovative IDP15 projects that contribute to economic growth and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution on our roads.

The UK is positioned as a world leader in the development and manufacture of ultra-low/zero emission vehicles.  The government’s Road to Zero strategy has set an expectation that by 2030 at least 50%, and as many as 70%, of new car sales and up to 40% of new van sales will be ultra-low emission.  This builds on the commitment for all new cars and vans to be effectively zero emission by 2040.

Progress on the transition to zero emission vehicles has increased over recent years thanks in part to government supported programmes such as the IDP and the Faraday Battery Challenge.

During the events delegates will hear from UK Research and Innovation, representatives of the UK’s automotive sector and OLEV.  Following this will be the main competition briefing session that will be presented by Innovate UK and will cover IDP15’s scope.  Finally, delegates will convene to learn about the Innovate UK application process.

A particular strength of joining a briefing event is the significant opportunity delegates have to network with organisations from across the automotive supply chain. You will also have the chance to engage with Innovate UK directly.

The events are aimed and business of all sizes (micro, SME and large) academics and local authorities with an interest in low or zero emission vehicles.  Organisations who have been involved in any past or current Innovate UK competitions in the automotive space are welcome.

In addition, in recognition of the special use case for specialist and large vehicles, a dedicated workshop is being run on 15 October in London.  The event will cover emergency vehicles, off-highway vehicles, large city vehicles and the supply chain which supports them.  With these vehicles come a unique set of operating challenges and requirements and a collaborative approach is vital.  The workshop, run by Innovate UK and KTN, will explore the challenges, join up complementary organisations and form project ideas. Book here
