KTN launches Geospatial Insights Special Interest Group

New SIG to help stimulate cross sector innovation in the geospatial community and help UK companies create ground breaking products and services.

We are at a geospatial moment in the UK with the establishment of the Geospatial Commission, AI and Data economy being a key pillar of the Government’s Industrial Strategy, and the geospatial community growing at an increasingly fast rate.

New technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, augmented and virtual reality, blockchain, miniaturisation of sensors, real time data and the proliferation of earth observation data are impacting the geospatial sector in a way not seen before.

Because of this, KTN has set up a Geospatial Insights Special Interest Group to help stimulate cross sector innovation in the geospatial community and help UK companies create ground breaking products and services.

We will be running a series of workshops focussed on developing new applications for sectors such as infrastructure, finance, agri-food, transport and health providing them with new insights derived from geospatial data.

We will also be running events to bring together the geospatial community with the latest advances in new technologies identified in the Geospatial Commission Tech Review.

Please join us for a breakfast meeting on the 22nd May at GeoBusiness 2019 and hear about our plans and announcements of the first workshops. There will also be the opportunity for you to get involved in helping to shape the programme.

This Special Interest Group is being run with support from the Geospatial Commission and Innovate UK.
