Propelling growth: Taking the next step in innovative medicines manufacturing

Posted on: 04/04/2018

The 2018 Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership conference takes place on 7th June at GSK in Stevenage.

This year’s Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership (MMIP) conference will focus on the technology and innovation driving the future of medicines manufacturing within the UK, and the support to the sector provided through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF). We will explore the role of future enabling technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital design, automation, robotics and synthetic biology in the medicines manufacturing of tomorrow.

The Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership (MMIP) represents the voice of medicines manufacturers in the UK. It was established jointly by Government and the biopharmaceutical industry in 2014 to ensure that the UK is recognised by the global medicines industry as a world-class, advanced centre for medicines manufacturing.

Since the MMIP last came together with colleagues across the medicines manufacturing community, much has been achieved. Significant developments have been launched in the Life Sciences Sector Deal, Life Sciences Industrial Strategy, implementation of the Advanced Therapies Manufacturing Action Plan and opportunities through the ISCF.

During the day, we will also be celebrating the successes from recent ISCF investments in enhancing current UK capabilities in medicines manufacturing innovation and sharing what this means for medicines manufacturing in the UK.

Key leaders will update on delivery of the Life Sciences Sector Deal and invite sector engagement with potential new areas for investment in the UK, such as complex medicines, as aligned to the Manufacturing Vision for UK Pharma Roadmap. The day will close with manufacturing site tours that will be confirmed closer to the date.

This meeting is free to attend, and full agenda will be published soon.
