The UK Circular Plastics Network was in attendance at the Plastic Oceans UK parliamentary event, which was hosted alongside the Coalition for Global Prosperity and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Prevention of Plastic Waste.
Sir David Attenborough spoke to the crowd about the current state of plastic waste globally, as well as criticising the UK for how we deal with plastic disposal.
The event saw 150 MPs and business leaders hear about the state of plastic waste in the UK and our oceans. CEO of Plastic Oceans UK, Jo Ruxton, spoke about how we need to ‘re-learn plastic to drive behaviour change’ in terms of our approach to plastic waste. Secretary of State for International Development, Penny Morduant, additionally delivered a speech on the government’s initiative to support schemes which improve plastic recycling through £6 million in aid for for some of the world’s poorest nations.
