Transforming food production with cutting-edge technologies
Posted on 04/12/2017
The recently published Industrial Strategy white paper highlights the Government’s commitment to transforming food production in the UK. Novel imaging technologies will help catalyse this transformation across the agri-food sector, from optimising inputs using precision agriculture to increasing the efficiency of food manufacturing lines. You can read an overview of recent sector developments here.
KTN will be running a workshop on 23rd January in Birmingham to explore emerging imaging technologies for agri-food, from satellite imaging of crops to food microstructure imaging. Talks will also cover advances in machine learning, 3D imaging and hyperspectral imaging, and there will be updates on funding opportunities from Innovate UK and BBSRC.
Confirmed speakers at this workshop include:
* Mark Jarman – Satellite Applications Catapult
* TBC – Gooch and Housego
* Dr Robin Head – M Squared Lasers
* Dr Katherine Lutteroth – BBSRC
* Dr Simon Plant – Innovate UK
A number of pitch presentations will be available during the event to promote a particular solution, technology or capability related to the use of imaging in the agri-food sector. Presentations will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Decisions regarding slots will be communicated by Friday 5th January 2018.
