Russ is the Knowledge Transfer Adviser for the North-West and West Midlands: his area includes South East Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Herefordshire.
The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships programme promotes business led, open innovation by connecting companies with academic expertise to enable them to grow their business. Russ looks after businesses supporting their projects with knowledge bases in many parts of the country. Russ also maintains relationships with a number of designated universities in relation to their participation in the programme.
He is a Chartered Engineer and has a Masters and PhD degree in Metallurgy, and a Diploma in Management Studies. For his work in knowledge transfer he has been awarded Honorary Fellowships by the University of Wales, Glyndwr and the University of Wolverhampton and an Honorary Doctor of Science from Staffordshire University.
Russ Initially worked in munitions and aerospace with the MOD and NPL. Post graduate, he has work in the University of Sheffield with a period in the US at Northwestern University. He has experience in R&D, line management positions in ICL Manufacturing Division, Sales Director of a Gylling subsidiary (Sweden), then MD roles in Cambridge Electronics plc.
