Dr Shaun Holmes is part of the International and Development team, focussing on projects that bring together UK and African stakeholders to support development through innovation. He has a background in the development of international research and innovation projects, including the British Council’s global science portfolio. Shaun was a science adviser at the British Council, and played a leading role in the organisation’s contribution to the Newton Fund. Earlier in his career he has been a researcher in high temperature alloys, completing a PhD in Nickel alloys at Cambridge University before working as a nickel specialist at Rolls-Royce. Shaun also had first hand experience of the impact science and innovation can have in a development setting, gained whilst volunteering in the Spiti Valley in the Indian Himalayas.
