Geraint has extensive experience from both Industry and academia; most recently managing a Research England funded Knowledge Exchange consortium “Pitch-In” on behalf of the University of Sheffield, helping companies to identify and break down barriers to adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
He has a degree in Physics and a PhD in Materials Science, and was technical director of an electronics manufacturing company, leading the development of new products, mainly based around the magnetisation, demagnetisation and characterisation of permanent magnet materials and assemblies. He was the company supervisor for two KTP programmes, which developed and productised a magnetic fieldmapping system, and an EEG brain monitor.
Whilst working at the University of Bristol, Geraint led numerous InnovateUK-sponsored programmes such as VISUALISE and Archive In Your Pocket (AIYP) in the Communications / Computing / Content space, on an extended secondment to company 3CResearch. He also project managed the EU Clean Sky projects ELETAD (Electrical Tail Drive) and HERRB (Helicopter Electrical Regenerative Rotor Brake), and the EPSRC programme grant Engineering Nonlinearity.
Geraint is based in Bristol as a KTA for the surrounding area, including Bath, Gloucestershire and South Wales. He is the main contact for the following universities: Bristol, Bath, UWE, USW, Cardiff Metropolitan, UWTSD.
