Matthew began his career in defence science with the Defence Research Agency (now QinetiQ) and moved from science to project management and then business development.
Matthew has also worked for the Defence Diversification Agency, before moving to Birmingham University to run KTPs there, along with other business development activity across the university. Most recently he moved back into physics with a role at the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance, where he looked after SUPA’s knowledge exchange in a broad sense including public outreach as well as more traditional commercial activity.
During his time at SUPA Matthew was involved in running the Scottish Optoelectronics Association and undertook various activities to help grow UK photonics and is a committee member of the Institute of Physics in Scotland.
