Cyber Security Academic Startup Accelerator Programme

CyberASAP, funded by DCMS in collaboration with Innovate UK & KTN, helps academics in UK universities commercialise their cyber security ideas.

The funding competition for CyberASAP Year 4 is now open and closes at noon on Wednesday 4th March – click here for full details about this year’s competition and to apply. View a webinar for potential applicants from Innovate UK here. For successful applicants, the programme starts with a bootcamp in London on 1st and 2nd April 2020.

The only pre-seed accelerator programme in the cyber security ecosystem, CyberASAP (Cyber Security Academic Startup Accelerator Programme) is now entering its fourth year, providing expertise, knowledge and support to convert academic ideas into commercial products in the cyber security space.

A dynamic and comprehensive programme of specialist training, workshops, briefings and bootcamps provides participating teams with vital insights into the key milestones necessary to take their product from lab to market. The programme has two phases:

Phase 1 – developing your value proposition and market validation. Successful teams from Phase 1 will progress to

Phase 2 – developing your proof of concept. This culminates in a Demo Day in February 2021 where teams’ prototypes are showcased to potential investors and industry.

A list of the teams that reached the final stage of this year’s programme is here and you can find out more about previous teams’ progress with their projects here.

If you are an Academic or University Technology Transfer Officer, Industrialist or investor and would like to register your interest in being involved or supporting the 2020/21 programme, you can do so here.

In January 2019, the 13 academic teams from CyberASAP’s second year (from the original intake of 26 in February 2018) pitched and presented their MVPs to a packed audience at a very successful Demo Day in Canary Wharf (see video below). The first year cohort’s Demo Day is featured here.
